Slatted
Cabinet
by Stuart Faulkner
This cabinet was primarily designed to meet the specific functional
needs of a client with a large amount of expensive stereo equipment
and to enhance a contemporary living space.
The matched solid jarrah slatted doors come from a single piece
of timber to ensure perfect colour and pattern and include 150
mortise and tenon joints.
The doors pocket back into the cabinet to reveal two full extension
shelves per compartment which extend to allow complete access to
the equipment for cabling.
In addition the cabinet includes individual internal power points
with in-line surge protection and cable management. The three slatted
drawers are in fact two drop down fronts which form useful shelves
whilst changing discs and full extension shelves for access to
much used consoles.
The middle draw is fitted with a CD storage system for flipping
through the current favourites.
The slatted design allows for the infra red remote to be used
when the cabinet is fully closed. The piece however saves its best
for mood situations when the internal stereo lights glow seductively
through the slats.
