We are an association of craftspeople founded in 1996 by three graduates of the Sturt School for Wood in the Southern Highlands. Their passion for design and craftsmanship has been carried through to the present by a succession of committed members. As our membership has evolved there has been a natural progression of Sturt graduates to Splinter and we value our relationship with this historic and unique craft centre.

Design. Make. Create.

We are woodworkers - designers and makers of furniture, objects, and installations. Our clients include private individuals, architects and interior designers and our projects vary in scale and may be residential, commercial, corporate or cultural with each project delivering a specific design response.

Teach. Learn. Relax.

We conduct recreational woodwork classes in a variety of formats. Our focus is on traditional woodwork using hand tools. Our classes start with the fundamentals and encourage a learning mindset. It’s about developing your skills and knowledge in an environment far removed from the stresses of daily life.

Value. Share. Change

The members of Splinter Workshop are an eclectic group. Many of us have come into woodwork later in life after leaving behind a variety of careers in areas like finance, science, law and design. We work independently but share the task of maintaining the workshop financially, functionally and socially and we value the collegiate nature of our workshop.
